Long, arching, sword-shaped leaves are deep purplish black . This is the blackest of the Phoriums. Panicles of red flowers on erect leafless stems may be produced in summer, followed by black seed heads that persist into the winter. Hardy up to -10C, great coast plant. Great in a pot or the border. Grow in sun with well drained soil. Height 1m [3ft] spread 60cm [2ft].
